We’ve created Wheelhouse for digital product builders like you. We’re a modern trade school that helps early-career designers, developers, researchers and product managers learn and advance their craft through doing. Our model uses an apprentice approach, where learners receive guidance from experienced principal practice leads while working in product studios that mirror real in-house teams. Our advanced course work is presented in a collaborative cohort model in tandem with actively working on civic, community and small/medium-sized business projects.

Each cohort is paired with principals with 15+ years of leadership, creating an apprenticeship-driven environment where learners deliver paid, real-world projects for community clients alongside advanced coursework. This model emphasizes learning by doing while preparing the next generation of product leaders.

Our network of apprentices — akin to a trade guild or union — allows early career learners to gain the skills they are missing, and then be able to prove their work experience. And that’s the magic combination that ensures employers have complete confidence in the Day 1 readiness of their new hires.
